In early spring Oliver came to the group with a slower and extended demo of Does It Matter. Again, the emphasis was on the bass and how it locks with the loop of the rhythm guitar. Originally, the track had an extended psych breakdown, but after a few tries Neighbourly opted for a tighter dance feel. Latham sampled Scott’s drums from an earlier take and programmed them to a disco bpm, and with layers it formed in a long summer afternoon. The lyrics are shaped by the internal narrative of questioning what matters. Have you given it some thought?
